Top 10 Essentials to Enjoy a Motorcycle Camping Trip

Today, motorcycle camping is becoming more popular - and with good reason.

Life can be stressful with tight deadlines, hectic schedules, demanding careers, and many other factors. It is important to find a way to relieve the stress. What better way to relieve stress than to go out with your two-wheel buddy and enjoy the fresh air and adventure of outdoor adventure?

Now that you're ready to go on a motorcycle camping adventure, here's a list of 10 things you shouldn't forget before you head out to explore the open road and wilderness.

1. High-Quality Tents Invest in high quality motorcycle camping gear, especially when choosing a tent that will provide shelter and protection from the weather. There are many quality, durable options for tents that can be packed easily and come in different sizes.

2. You can pack your sleeping bags and mats small and light. A good sleeping bag will keep you warm and comfortable throughout the night. Sleeping bags should be at least 10 to 15 degrees Celsius colder than the temperature you will experience during your trip. The temperature ratings are survival temperatures and your bag will not feel comfortable below its limits. To ensure a restful night's sleep, make sure you keep your bag within its limits.

3. Water and Food. It is important to have enough water, especially if you are not able to get water at the campsite. Portable drinking water filters can be used to save weight and space. MREs (Meals Ready to Eat) are also a good idea to bring. These can be made by simply adding hot or cold water to the container. You can also pack energy bars, beef jerky and coffee, as well as other lightweight dry foods.

4. Flashlights and torch. LED lights are so small that you can pack them anywhere. One can be kept in your backpack and one on your keychain. A small string of LEDs can be used to light up your campsite or tent.

5. Lightweight Outdoor Cookware and Food Utensils

6. Clothing and riding gear

7. Essential Toiletries and First Aid Kit: These essential items include toothpaste, toothbrush, and soap. Make sure to take your medication (if you have any), along with your motorcycle first aid kit. Outdoor adventures require you to bring along bug sprays, sunblocks, and sanitizers.

8. Tools: These tools include a folding knife and a motorcycle repair kit.

9. Navigation and Communication Devices Cell phone, GPS and a paper map in case there is no signal.

10. Spare Key Unexpected things can happen, so it is best to always be prepared. In case your key is lost or stolen, keep a spare key in your wallet.

Tips for packing gear on a motorbike

When packing a motorbike, the most important thing is how heavy your gear is. Additional weight can increase your stopping distance, but also decrease your maneuverability. You should therefore choose lightweight motorcycle camping gear, and pack as little as possible.

These are some things to keep in mind as you pack your motorcycle.

1. You should pack heavier items as low and securely as possible.

2. Make sure that your camping gear is equally distributed across your motorbike.

3. Cinch straps and cam lock straps are better than bungee cords. They won't get snagged or come undone when you brake or turn. Avoid using dangling straps around spinning bike parts. Avoid using dangling straps around any spinning bike parts.

4. It's much easier to load and unload your gear if you categorize it. You can separate camping gear, clothing and personal items. You don't need to unpack everything if you only have a few items.

5. To keep your dry gear/items separate from those that you don’t mind getting wet, use waterproof saddlebags
